The Swarm Intelligence Team of University of Pernambuco focus on researches on swarm intelligence based algorithms, development of new optimization techniques and their applications in many areas such as optical networks, digital image processing, multiobjetive problems and dynamic problems.
In 2007, the team proposed a new optimization algorithm based on the fish schools behavior. Which yielded journal articles and book chapters. Actually, a new approach of this algorithm has proved very efficient finding several solutions in multimodal functions.
The CUDA nVidia platform has been a good mechanism for parallel processing. Swarms Intelligence algorithms are naturally parallelizable. Thus, the group has focused accordingly to increase the processing speed of such algorithms using CUDA.
